Birth Announcement: Quintuplets!

The Gazette is pleased to report that the population of Hopalong Hollow  has arisen by five! Yes, we at the Gazette congratulate the proud parents of quintuplets! Born to  Keziah and Pinkie BarnSwallow, and thriving amidst the heat of June, the dear little newlings are growing by the minute! The nursery is located in the southeast corner of the Manor Porch neath the eaves.

All is aflutter and a tweet, tweet, tweet, as mother, father and nanny, Leona Chippy, care for the babies all throughout the day. When asked to comment on the difficulties involved in the  care and feeding of five wee ones all at once, an exhausted Pinkie BarnSwallow chirped, " WHAT! Are you kidding me??!!", and flew off to find yet another worm.
The parents do ask that all well wishers wait at least 2 weeks before making calls and visits, which , in this reporters opinion, rather negates the point of a visit, seeing as how the little cheeps will have "flown the coop" by then.

Welcome to the world little BarnSwallows!
And welcome to Hopalong Hollow: Population: 529....give or take a lizard or two.

  1. Aaww they are just precious !
They chose very well when they picked the porch of the manor to raise their babies, they will be loved.
We have raised Bluebirds, Carolina Wrens and Robins, so far this summer, but sadly no BarnSwallows.
Congratulations to the feathered parents ;)

  5. Dear Jeri, How I loved seeing the posting about and photos of your barn swallow family! Thank you for your comments about my farmhouse - DO take the trip to your family area in upstate New York. It is a beautiful place, not only in the summer, but especially in October with the fall foliage. When on my way to or from the farm, I love driving up I-88 and/or New York Route 7, which stretches from Binghamton to Albany, through the mountains and alongside the Susquehanna River. U.S. Route 20 is another beautiful and historic route through the state. Many old Greek Revival and Victorian home- and Inn-filled towns and WONDERFUL selection of and prices on early American antiques! Casssandra ♥

  11. Awwww...so sweet!

I sympathize totally with the harried parents after being an adoptive parent to a baby bird last year. Although I admit that I kinda miss little East and wonder if she's one of the tweeters fluttering around the cottage now!

  14. Oh Jeri dearest! Congratulations!!! We are on our second round of robins in our garden! Mrs. Robinson doesn't like it however, that we keep passing by where her little nest is! I wonder how many more broods she is going to pump out!!! WHAT FUN! I have been on vacation in California, but I am so happy to be back in my cottage, watching the animal antics.

Come by when I post again this weekend! Anita
