The perfect Bonnet

I have been in search of the perfect bonnet. When at last I did find it, via mail-order, I anxiously awaited on the Post for delivery . At least one hundred years old, and very delicate. I wasn't sure it would fit on the small recipients head, but I certainly hoped it would.
This hat is far too small for the Southern Belle.....
"Besides, ah only weah Taffeta!"
.
And far too big for the other Southern Belle....
"Oh Dea-ah, this old rag, ah wouldn't be caught dead in it!"

Hmmm, not a bad fit here.... but wrong person. Sorry dolly.
.

Aretha is simply NOT in the mood for this nonsense...

.

And wearing this bonnet gives Claudette the strange desire to take a stroll in the park with her parasol and her pet poodle, Gigi....
But this hat is NOT for her.

.

It's all Peepers can do to keep from dashing up the nearest tree..
Ouch! Watch those claws!!!!
and Sasha is awfully charming to behold.
.
But these girls do not get to possess this dear little bonnet. I bought it for someone very, very special.

.

" Do you mean.... moi?
Oh, May I please, please try it on?"

.

Fionna, your neck is indeed long and graceful, but that is not quite what I had in mind.....
.
 "Is this better?

.

Oh, my.... it is just your size!

"And, do I look divine?"
Indeed you do Fionna, even better than I had hoped!

(Lest you think I have lost my mind, I really do plan on drawing Fionna in her new hat in an illustration I am working on. So you see, she really did need the perfect bonnet.)

  1. How very patient our animals are when we play dress up with them. I'm sure they think we humans are an odd lot, lol!

Fiona does look fabulous though :)

  3. I'm amazed the cats let you do that lol

As for Fiona she looks ever so cute and very much like a 21st century Jemima Puddleduck.

I cannot wait to see how you artistically interpret Fiona in that little bonnet.

Jeri if you would like a little inspiration I have just written about an ancient bluebell wood - I could just see Fiona walking along the little path in one of my pictures.

  7. You live an absolute fairy tale life with geese wearing bonnets, and walking on your porch. Bet that was a chore to get that on, and then to try to take pictures ! Too, too cute ! Gina

  9. it all makes perfect sense to me, having once dressed my vacuum cleaner as a snowman.

  10. Yes, Fiona is a dead ringer for Jemima Puddleduck, but poor Jemima had nary a brain in her little head. Fiona, on the other hand is a simply brilliant goose!
Anna, I really love it... African Goose Bumps!

  11. Valerie,I would have loved seeing that vacuum cleaner! We just make do sometimes, and since you are working on a Christmas book in the summertime, I guess a vacuum cleaner is a fairly upright replacement for a real snowman.
