A request...

.
Dear readers,
I would like to make a request. As many of you know, I used the Hopalong Hollow Gazette to  journal the creation of my latest book, Mamsey Bear and Mopkin. For 2 years I posted paintings, drawings and works in progress to inform and entertain you in the creation of this book. Creating a book can be a very lonely activity and it is only when the project is complete and sent out into the world and into the  hands of readers, that opinions are formed and the author realizes, either to their delight or dismay, what the public thinks. Now, my friends, if you get this book, I need your feedback. Some of you have already contacted me with your reflections and I greatly appreciate that!   I'm not looking for a pat on the back, (unless you want to give one), I simply wish to know your views, most particularly on  the story, and also on the illustration.  If you would be so kind, as to comment or send an email: OR better yet; the book is now available on Amazon and just waiting for your reviews. Customer Book reviews matter; Most of us trust a customers opinion more than an editorial review when researching an item.  I realize we are all busy people with much to do, but if you have a chance to leave a few words it would be of great importance to me, as the author/ illustrator. Personally,  this story is my favorite thus far... but my thoughts are not important, yours are. Mamsey Bear awaits your thoughts and thanks you in advance!

And Dimity thanks you too!

  2. Dear Jeri,
I adore this book. A delightful story of a Mother's love and determination, helping others and working together.. This is what I personally came away with, after reading Mamsey Bear and Mopkin. I actually went back and read it again, because the first time around, I was so excited I knew I had to have missed something. It was Mamsey's love and determination that was behind it all...

It took me back to a safe a wonderful childhood... The illustrations are exquisite, the story is a pure delight! I would recommend this book to everyone of all ages..
Thank you for your allowing me to step into your wonderful world..
    This book is spectacular!
    love and blessings,
    Penny

  3. I purchased Bushky Bushy Bottom at the Cumberland Gap store a few mos. ago. I almost appeared on your doorstep today, as my daughter and her husband were picking up some ceramics up the mountain..but I'd never do that without prior notice! I really want your autograph in the book. Haven't been current here, in Blogger..but I'll try to get better. I'm sure your new book is as delightful and beautiful as the previous. I'm keeping my copy and will read it to the Great Grand...but it's living here at my house!

  4. Happy and creative New Year Jeri !
Your artwork is wonderful, I love the "invoice" of painting, attention to detail, materials, colors. All is well studied, prepared, execution and design are perfect. The atmosphere is beautiful. I don't have the book, I have not read the story because I live in France, but I'll see if I can find it on Amazon. I'm sure the story is very tender, drawings are. Your talent is great. Really.
    Nice friday Jeri !
    Hugs.

  5. Thank you Nathanaelle, I wish my books were available in your country. I once had the opportunity to sell in France with another publishing company, but the logistics weren't workable for us. Maybe someday!

  6. Darling friend, I am late here since back-to-school duties call, but I am very interested in having a chat with you here.

I do not have your latest book, however, I have your others. In my opinion, your writing and illustrations and all the HARD WORK YOU yourself have done is superieur to so much of the conventionally published work out there. You are the artist, and you can see what satisfies YOU. We fall in love with the particular work of the individual who makes the object, the piece. All we can say is what we love from it, and I say, BRAVO, PERFECTION, PAINSTAKING DETAIL in its finest.

Keep going, that's all we can say. LOVE EVERY BIT OF YOUR MIND! Anita

  8. hello Jeri,

I just ordered your book from your Amazon store. I will be happy to review it after i read it. I agree, reviews are important to shoppers.

Your book looks gorgeous to me from what i see. I am so thinking about bears, painting them and considering hibernation at the moment. For i live in a land where it is just that time.

first i will enjoy your book and then it will be a gift for my 3 mo. old grandson. How fun to give him your book!

  11. JERI LANDERS! Oh, I see you spoke back here ! ANOTHER STORY? EXCELLENT! YES! How fun this is, this circle of friends who support one another! And I see our beloved Dutchess came! She is wonderful.

Thank you for coming to visit my post. You know that I thought of you as I was making it? I remembered how you observe nature in it's death state, to really look hard at how a bird is constructed.....I almost put a fabulous photo of a stuffed fabric bird in a coffin...it is a beautiful photo, but I wasn't sure if it would freak out some people! But it was beautiful.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE UP YOUR SLEEVE! Anita

  12. Anita, it may freak out a few, but not me! If you only knew how many little birds have had proper burials around here... after their time in the freezer, of course.
