How do you get a goose to pull a name from out of a hat???

Said Hat.... er, Bonnet

Said Goose.
Well, you have to be tricky..
I first wrote the names on torn scraps of white paper,,hAh,hAh, thinking to disguise the white paper as bread.

But Fiona wasn't buying that one for a minute and honked her displeasure, along with the rest of the chorus,

So next, I cut up bits of white bread, ( a goosies favorite treat) and numbered 19 pieces, marked each name with numbers to correspond, as seen above.

OOPS! This is not your job, Claudette!

Numbered Bread goes into bonnet and gets a good shake.

Now, the idea here, is to get Fiona II to take a piece of bread and then  I shall snatch the hat away to see which number has been removed. The problem is, I can't seem to get her to do it.
As soon as she comes close to choosing, some other bird distracts her. She is not nearly as cooperative as Fiona I!!!
I move said Bonnet all over the yard, hoping someone will choose a "name".
But nary a taker! Of course, it doesn't help to have a Peacock intimidating anyone who comes near the bonnet!
Everyone runs off!!!!
I move the bonnet to a garden and alas, finally someone is willing to play the game.
Eugene and Prudi come closer....closer...
And quick as a lick they yank FOUR"names" out of the bonnet and devour them before I can snatch the hat away!
SO here are the winners, not one but FOUR, and NOT chosen by Fiona Goosefeathers II, but by two trusty chicken-folk. You can always count on the chicken-folk to be hungry.
Corresponding names to missing bread.
  Okay, here we are:
 Heather, from Everyday Graces
Anna, from Fairy Garden
Anita, from Castles, Crowns and Cottages
And
Sara
Congratulations to you all, you will like this book.!

  1. Fun, I must have missed the post to get in this contest, my number would have been eaten anyway as the only thing I have EVER won ( and this is dumb ! ), is a 5th of Chevis Regal at my husband's X-mas party 28 years ago !!!! And I don't drink the stuff ! I don't even know whatever happened to it. take care, Gina

  8. We thank everyone who participated in this little game, I had a lot of fun with it. I simply must do it again! Next time I will see who can pick the acorn out of the bucket. I will use my sheep for that game, they are not in the least bit reluctant to try new treats. Next book givaway will be "Bushky Bushybottom". I wish everyone could have won, but I guess 4 books is a pretty cool deal; I gotta stop somewhere!
