Hibernation HoeDown... Book Endpaper art

These bears are having a jolly good time.  Eating pies, drinking apple cider. doing the Conga, the Tango, the
Jitterbug and even the waltz...  What a blast!

They are quite loud and boisterous...but never obnoxious. They are inviting my readers into my book... because they are doing all these activities on my endpapers... I can barely keep them from dancing off the page! They are having a Hibernation Hoe Down. "One last bash, Before we Crash!, is what they say.

Many Storybooks do not have End paper art, it is a lot of extra work for the artist. But I wanted to fit  these frolicking bears, somewhere in my book, and the endpapers seemed just the right spot.

  Come and party with us!

Fionna  was not present at the Hoe Down, but since she IS in this book, we included her little movie trailer,as well.
Also, a rather remarkable thing happened. Our missing Peahen, the reluctant bride, the new bird that disappeared into the wild, wide wood... that one? She Returned! She suddenly reappeared in our driveway after having been gone for 10 days. I guided her back across the bridge and up to the farmyard, where she has been happily pecking away at the grain now for about a week. I am so thrilled! Both brides are home at last.

  4. Oh my dear Jeri,

First of all, I've been away on a bit of a "vacation" in California with family and it was so fun. But my auntie is aging now and needs assistance, so I went out to see her and tried to lend a helping hand to arrange the transition she will be making from home to assisted living....heartbreaking.

Dearest, what are END PAPERS? I have no clue, but one thing I do know is that your art, music and spirit that you communicate all enchant. I am home, I can visit, and I am so happy. Oh those dancing bears and Miss Fiona? She is a superstar! AND GOOD TO KNOW that peahen is back to pecking away on familiar territory! She's practicing her hen-pecking JUST in case she changes her mind and decides on a bridegroom!!!!!!!!!

    Much love, Anita

    1. Anita,When first you open the book, one side of the paper is glued to the inside of the book cover and the other half is loose, creating a page to turn. Usually these papers are pure white or a solid color. These two halves make up the endpapers.

Wow, the end pages, are we close to being sent to the printers? I am anxiously awaiting purchasing multiple copies of book 3, sure would make my holiday shopping easy. I love the Hoe Down and the music was perfect,

Today a friend stopped by and noticed your little paper cutting garden on my bookcase. She said it was so beautiful. Of course I agreed and then proceeded to point out your work all around my house. Your work makes me smile every single day.

  15. How like your generosity of spirit to adorn your book with such
exquisite endpapers rather than open the adventure with blanks.
Nice that Mz Peahen realized how good she had it in the Hollow and found her way home again...never could fathom why she would
wander...curiosity? Now she knows and, hopefully, is no worse for the wear.
At last, I spy No 3 at the end of the tunnel and thank you with
a bursting heart for sending us another golden treasure....the
Grands are dancing with anticipation in fine Hoe-down fashion.

Missing you all and wishing you Summer blessings ~
