The Hare
is here.
He is tall at 17 inches.. 20 inches if you count his fuzzy ears.
He is dressed in a lined Red Herringbone and silk vest.
He is made with Mohair, soft Alpaca wool and white Shropshire wool.
(I will tell you about this wonderful wool in another post.
Horatio Hopalong is his name and he is jointed in arms and legs, so he is able to wave his arms about, and he can stand...
OR he can sit on his fuzzy bum.
He has pink toes, whiskers and eyebrow hairs.
His large amber glass eyes see everything.
His head and neck are articulated and able to move in ANY direction.
I really like him!
It requires a good deal of time to create a bun.
He is perfectly kissable.
He's my new buddy.
I wanted you to see him, because this is how I am making my rabbits, squirrels, rats and cats.
In the Spring, many of my characters will be ready to hop to new homes. I will put them on my website and bring them to shows. You may want to adopt your very own Hopalong, Fuzzyfoot, Whiskerkin, Bunwinkie or Featherweight.
Fondly from the Hollow, Jeri and Horatio Hopalong
Jeri, You are just amazing--you've bought to life Horatio Hopalong. His clothing is just perfect for him. The little vest is so well tailored. He looks to be very wise to be so young. ♥
ReplyDeleteJeri, I am without words! He is fantastic!!! Oh how do you do it? Thank you for sharing his coming to life with us.
ReplyDeleteLots of love, Deborah Rogers Mercy
Deborah, you know where that Alpaca came from!!!
DeleteHoratio is stunning. Thank you for introducing him to us. I hope he will find a very loving home - but I don't see how you can part with him!
ReplyDeleteLove,
LIly
Hi Lily, I may not part with Horatio, he is a prototype of sorts.... and I REALLY like him a lot!
DeleteOh Jeri ~ I really 'like him' too and yes he is 'kissable' also. What a handsome gentleman he is. Your work is exquisite as always and inspires me with my crafting, to be better at it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time there at lovely Hopalong.
FlowerLady
JERI LANDERS, you did it AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteOK, then springtime it is. This is outrageously wonderful, Horatio is perfectly made, and you have blown my mind today.....
I suppose your agile hands for drawing and painting are in shape to what seems to be a wave of a magic wand and the stroke of your hands to call into existence these perfectly formed creatures. Jeri, though I am no longer posting, I am still visiting everyone because this creativity that is shared has changed my life. It is a joy to see what you are up to, and know that I will be in line when you open your shop doors. Hurry for Horatio the Hare from Hopalong Hollow!
You rock.
Anita
Anita, I wonder what you prefer, rabbit, mouse, squirrel or cat? I enjoy the rabbits the most and have quite a lovely little grouping in the works.
Deleteteeehee....I love them all, and I dare NOT say who I prefer because around here, I have quite the collection of animals who have a voice! If they heard me say, "I prefer the rabbits", then Tea Rat would get his knickers in a twist. Wait...he doesn't wear clothing...but he would certainly bawk at that! teehehee
DeleteOH, I would LOVE A RABBIT! I tell ya, when you are ready, I will be in line, a pushin' and a shovin' to get my hands on one! ENJOY YOURSELF!
Oh, Jeri he is simply a joy to behold! I've been down a rabbit hole myself of late, but so glad to have finally emerged to see the wonders you've been sharing here. What an amazing talent you are! I can't wait to see more of your lovely creatures as you bring them to life. ~Cynthia Crane of TheCranesNest.com
ReplyDeleteJeri, Haratio...oops! Horatio Hopalong is quite the thing! I agree wit Lily. I don't see how you'll be able to part with him. I recently made my first needle-felted Corgi dog, and was only able to give it away (it was for our Tasha Tudor gift exchange at Christmas) because I'd come down to the wire and needed to make SOMETHING by hand that I, myself, would want to keep. Letting it go was easy when I saw the delight in the recipient's face. I think you will have to insist the new owner come pick him up so you can receive the joy of letting him go!
ReplyDeleteI agree about parting with your creations face to face. I would be happiest to part with them at shows, just to see how much the new "mom" relates to the adopted one.
DeleteJeri, What joy you've brought to my day with your introduction of Horatio to the world! I just want to hug him! Sharon
ReplyDeleteOh Jeri, how gorgeous is Horatio!! He reminds me a little of the March hare in Alice in Wonderland, except that Horatio is sweeter looking. I love hares. They are actually different from rabbits. I saved a picture from a magazine years ago of two hares "boxing" in the spring. Now I just need to remember where I put the picture. Can't wait to see the rest of your characters. I agree with Cathy - I just don't know how you will be able to part with any of them; they are so, so special.
ReplyDeleteLove from Diane in North Carolina
Dearest Jeri,
ReplyDeleteDo I dare believe my eyes? He is absolutely amazing... I just love his sweet face.. I can clearly see all the hard work AND time that has gone into this wonderful fuzzy rabbit... I am thrilled that you will be offering them on your website.. Please let me know as soon as they are available..
Bravo, dear friend... You have created magic!

Penny
Horatio is absolutely adorable. He looks so real except for his super spiffy vest and his fluffy bow tie. A very well dressed hare-about-town.

He is precious. I loved the pic with him sitting with feet in the air. Can't wait to see them on the blog for sale. I just love that you do everything. I think it comes with a curious mind and the need to do more than one thing. PS ` my blog is still messed up. I've tried everything to get my reading list back; spent hours reading the forum and even made the blog guy mad???
ReplyDeleteDang! And I am still having trouble linking your avitar to your blog, but I can get in when I go to my reading list.
Deletewhat a dapper fellow ~ love him!

ReplyDeleteGood morning Jeri,
ReplyDeleteQuestion.. I just noticed his foot pads.. ( photo #6) Wow! Are they painted?
Penny, they are felted and then I used a Faber Castil color pen, they come in great fleshy colors. I overdid the color on one foot and need to fix it..
DeleteJeri,
DeleteLove the colors of the pen.. I will have to see if I can find the pens.. Great idea.
Thank you so much for viewing my post for my Mother.. I too, love the 40's.
You do know I'm about to pass out right? ;) Loooooooooooooooooove!
