This is being printed today, so it is time to pop your name in the "basket" if you would like a chance to win a signed, unframed Lithograph of my new painted paper cutting, "With Loving Hands". Size is 16x20 which is a standard frame size. Any reader of the Gazette, living anywhere in the world, may enter by leaving a comment. If you left a comment previously (2 post down) ABOUT this artwork, your name will be entered twice.
I will devise some clever way to chose the name a week from today. I'm pretty good at that!
Since finishing this piece, I've decided to add two "companion" pieces. So I have been working away.
My first order of business was to put in a call to the "Every Creeping Thing" Modeling Agency. They sent over a few models.
This model was quite attractive... but he simply would not stay still..
He kept climbing the curtains...
and helping himself to my coffee. So I gave him the boot. The last I saw of him , he was lurking in the cone flowers. The other model was much more cooperative.
But I guess that's because he was just a little bit D.O.A
Sometimes, you just have to depend on reference books....
dozens and dozens of them.
Then, you just spend countless hours at the drawing board.
At least these models were easy to come by.
This painted paper-cutting will have 30 birds in it! Painting bird feathers gives me a pain. If you would like to follow the development of this piece, click along the border box, entitled,"Works in Progress"
I will show it to you when finished, in the meantime, sign up for the Garden Print!

I would absolutely love to be entered into the draw for this incredibly beautiful work of art, Jeri. Once again, a charming post. I loved the Praying Mantis's escapades especially drinking your coffee. You have the most wonderful imagination and delightful sense of humour. I can't wait to see the completed companion pieces you are currently working on.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait to see how you pick the winner, Jeri!
ReplyDeleteWill the chooser have feathers or fur? Two legs or four? Or six (sorry Mr. Walking Stick).
I'm smiling already just thinking about it.
~pogonip
Oh well, since you're so generously offering, then please enter me memememe!!!!! *stands at back waggling arm frantically*
ReplyDeleteAmazing work, such patience and skills are awe inspiring!
ReplyDeletePlease put my name in the hat!
You have a big heart to give us such a wonderful gift! I can't imagine the hours you spend on each drawing, but what really blows me away is the talent required to capture what Mother Nature designs! It's like a dream world when I come for a visit and I love every minute...
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty! These tapestries woven with pencil, paint and your boundless imagination never cease to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteLove that ornery alien in green.
I'm so excited at the thought of winning your print!! I would be such a grateful owner of it.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your two little bug critters. I vote for your going to the garden, searching out a wee bug and directing him to pick my name for the print...I think all insects know you and I love them very much.
Diane in North Carolina
My goodness, Jeri! You weren't a'kiddin' when you said you were drawing birds and more birds! You take my breath away, once again. And my hat is off to you, handling the creepy things would not be "my cup of tea"...but you are surely Beatrix incarnate...you're forever my hero!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what clever method you have up that sleeve of yours, for drawing names;)
Wishing me luck..heeheeee,
Christie
Hi again Jeri,
ReplyDeleteI almost forgot to ask if you have a copy of Arthur Evans' book entitled "An Inordinate Fondness for Beetles"? It ranks in my top five of insect books, both for the photography and information. I think you'd really like it if you don't already have it.
Diane in North Carolina
ps...this is my second post today, but I don't expect to be entered another time today for the drawing...unless a little beetle is partial to my winning, of course.
Jimmie, I will look for that book, and there is another called "Natures Jewels", that you would like.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your models, The first is very cute ! "Gemini Cricket" !
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeri to show us your Art work. It is splendid !
Nice day !
Nathanaëlle
I would treasure one of your pieces of artwork. Magical!
ReplyDeleteBalisha
Your new work of art is going to be so pretty. With the birds and those great berries. Prying Mantis are so strange looking but fascinating too. Katydids use to scare me to death when I was little. They would get in my bedroom and make noise at night. I would scream until Dad came and would catch it and put it outside where it belonged. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYes, please put me in again for that lovely garden print. I would cherish a work of yours.
Love the "models"! You're so creative. Will look forward to seeing who wins and how you do it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kay
Oh to bring that to the
ReplyDeleteframer for preservation and
posterity upon our wall....
Please delay and put moi in
the pile's top layers....
Out to hit my knees and to
light the candle......
Love and appreciate you,
Jeri ~ Many thanks ~
Gentility

ReplyDeletePlease enter me Melissa j. Greenville, sc
ReplyDeleteI love this new artwork!
Jeri, I love it - your critters that were to be models, just didnt understand your rules! or maybe they are exempt from rules, who knows. I love the idea of companion pieces....goodie, goodie for those of us that just can't get enough of your ART, I just love the new piece. Deborah RM
ReplyDeleteSo I was drinking my coffee this morning, reading the little brambly hedge book I received per amazon yesterday, the secret staircase, and I have realized...my decorating style is 'mouse attic"...I believe I am half mouse - half squirrel!!! Is it just me? Please be gentle with my feelings..teeheee...
ReplyDeleteI felt you would be the only one to whom I could reveal this revelation;))
Have a wonderful day, dear kindred,
Christie
P.s. And tell Lord of that Manor...the next galvanized tub I see, I'm getting it for you;)
I knew I could trust you to hold a secret;) and, yes, just ask my mother...how many times did she have to clean out my closet, as a child..no it wasn't full of clothes...it was full of little treasures! Every scrap of lace , old buttons, modeling clay to make 'food' for my dolls...oh I think I just wore her out! She knew I came out of her womb but was not quite sure where I had REAlly come from. Now we know! Oh my goodness, the boys in fifth grade used to call me squeaky...Iam just mow putting two & two together..HaHa!
ReplyDeleteBtw...hop along hollow is xavier and Grammy's favorite place to play...with all the bushy bottoms running round. He still tickles me calling them all bushky;))) you should be proud, dear heart!
Embrace this day,
Christie

ReplyDeletePenny, I loved writing that little rhyme about wee Aimee...
Good morning dear JERI LANDERS! How is the flock? The little burrito, Jemima...no, she is a DONKEY..ah yes!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear friend for visiting me. It is an interesting thought to ponder as the OLD FASHIONED way of sitting with a friend has changed; we now make a connection with the world in a virtual coffee hour, and yet it has brought out the old practice of PEN PALS...the technology has changed from pen and paper, but the NEED TO CONNECT will never, ever change. BLESS YOU JERI LANDERS! Anita
Well, my goodness I fell down a rabbit hole and landed in your aerie. I would love to be tossed in your pot, late or not! You do amazing work, your praying mantis' cousin lives here and sends his regards!
