Tea with the Rabbits

Rabbits enjoy their tea times year round, I am more of a winter tea drinker. Simple tea, such as Red Rose, with a wee bit of sweetener, served in beautiful teapots and cups.... that is what we like.

Rabbit size Tea sets

Tea originated in China in 2750 BC. The Dutch were the first to drink tea in Europe and introduced it to Britain in about 1640. Tea soon became the favorite beverage replacing even wines and liquors. This became a bit of a problem with the government because they lost a lot of money from liquor taxes, hence, tax the tea! Well, the tea tax was passed on to the colonies and we all know how THAT turned out! We like the flavor of Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast and Red Rose. Mother Whiskerkins makes a very special brew using lemongrass, mint and sassafras. In every box of Red Rose, you get a little figurine. The company has been including these in their boxes for over 41 years and some are quite sweet. Celestial Seasonings designs the most beautiful tea boxes. The rabbits have always favored the Sleepytime Tea box.... it reminds them of their beloved Hopalong Hollow.

Chickens!
Oh Dear! The runaway chickens have taken over Ochre Moon Manor! I admit it, I should have taken things in hand way back last August when the lovely speckled hen and her handsome, debonair husband appeared on the property with 13 adorable little chickpeas in tow. But my, they were such a lovely family! ( I must say, they really added to the atmosphere of the Hollow.) But alas, little chicks become big hens and roos, and now we have them running amok! Digging craters in the gardens, pooping on the porch, sneaking into the mudroom, roosting on the arbor AND eating all the cat, dog and duck chow! Trudy Webbytoes is quite affronted by that and insists that we do something about it. After all, she has many little bills to feed and to see those frenzied feather dusters pecking away at her dinner table is simply too much to bear! So, what is to be done? I have to say, that despite everything, I have grown rather fond of the silly things. Did you know that roosters will crow all day long? Multiply all that crooning times 7, (yes, 7 roos!) and you have quite a chorus. It's lovely. And then there are all those yummy eggs we are finding all about the place. ( I am sure that Sir Percival has found some of those treats, he makes a mean omelet.) I think it is time to design a charming chicken cottage..... far from Mrs Webbytoes abode, with a very tall fence.
